Hi everyone! Hope you're all having an awesome summer so far. I'm posting this just to see if anyone would check the website, and to catch up with everyone on what you've been up to so far this summer. Who knows, maybe some of you will keep in touch. Miss you all! : )
A few people have been asking for a new topic to blog about, so here goes...
We're in the "home stretch" - the final few weeks of the school year. Reflect on how you've grown this year, academically or socially. Think about things like strategies for learning that have worked for you; new connections you've made with friends or teachers; an event that occurred that changed who you are as a young student etc. Something impactful.
Now that you have read all 6 articles, choose ONE to respond to. Remember to be clear and use the techniques we discussed in class - bribery, beg/pleading, use of facts, positive language, making an emotional plea eg. buttering up/pulling on heart strings, repeating your point/being persistent
So, how do you think the speeches have been going? Without naming names, tell me about the things you've liked and the things you feel we need to work on.
Apply what you learned in class during the "Eden's Garden" task to the following question:
You have to make a garden with a perimeter of 18m, and fill it with soil. Soil costs $10 per metre squared.
1) What would the dimensions of the garden have to be in order to make it for the cheapest price?
2) If cost was not an issue, what would the dimensions be of the most expensive garden?arve nsnnn of thecostc - what the cost cosc
Are you a leader? Do you want to be a leader? Many people say all the right things, but don't follow through. In other words, their actions don't match their words.
Whether vocal or quiet, all leaders lead by example. Not only do they say they will do the right thing, their actions show it too. They set an example for others to follow.
I don't want you to say you're going to be a leader in the class and do the right thing, I want you to follow through and act on your words. Be a real leader.
So, do you still want to be a leader?
This is the time of the year that many people reflect on life - how the past year unfolded, whether they met their goals, and many more. What are your goals for 2014? Reflect on your 2013 and set some goals to make 2014
We are VERY CLOSE to getting the Star Jar back. Today was an awesome day....until last period when a few started to lose focus.
I'm challenging those who ARE maintaining focus to be a class leader. I need you to set a positive example for your classmates, and encourage those who are struggling. Are you a leader? Do you accept this challenge?
You are VERY close to earning back the "Stars in the Jar" reward system. My question to you is, how many days of consecutive great behaviour do think the class needs to show in order for the jar to brought back out? Be sure to explain your answer.
If someone told you they have 17 tenths. How much do they actually have? Give an example to explain your thinking.
